Founded in 1975, OSA is a coalition of student governments dedicated to the representation, service, and protection of the collective interests of over 100,000 students in postsecondary education.
Student services are essential to a positive campus experience and help students graduate on time. Over half of Oregon students currently take over four years to graduate, causing many students to graduate with even more student loan debt.
At Southern Oregon University, where state disinvestment has left the campus with a $4 million budget shortfall, this problem is on track to get worse, not better. A recent budget proposal recommended that 17 staff positions be cut, most of which are in student affairs.
