About OSCC

We are a statewide coalition of students advocating for equal access to education by empowering students and strengthening communities of color. We will unite through activism and mentorship to provide resources and strategy development to students of color at all levels of education. OSCC is an affiliate of the Oregon Student Association.

Our Vision

To ensure equal access to education through statewide victories on issues that impact students of color and increase student power.

We will achieve this through:

Education
We believe in raising a collective social conciousness that will advance a social justice agenda. This conciousness will address institutional racism, both historical and current.

Organizing
We organize to combat racial injustices on our campuses and in our communities through the development of the skills necessary for successful grassroots organizing.

OSCC History
OSCC was formed at the 1997 Northwest Student Leadership Conference (NWSLC) to respond to racial injustices in education.

In 1999, the Oregon Student Association strengthened its commitment to access to colleges and universities by institutionalizing OSCC through the creation of a permanent staff position, the OSCC Field Organizer.

Since the development of OSCC, students have focused on the underrepresentation of communities of color in all sectors of postsecondary education. Priorities have included improving campus climate and working with local and state leaders to promote programs that benefit communities of color.
