About OSERA

In 2001, OSA was joined by the Oregon Student Equal Rights Alliance (OSERA). Mobilizing students at the grassroots level, OSERA is striving to achieve equal access to education for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer people within Oregon’s educational communities. Through advocacy, the strengthening of community relationships, and the development of leaders, OSERA is working to lead Oregon’s universities and community colleges toward safe, diverse, and enriching environments for all students.

OSERA is currently teaming up with Basic Rights Oregon (BRO) to organize queer students at Oregon’s colleges and universities.  Working with BRO, OSERA helped win two major victories this legislative session: the passage of the Oregon Equality Act, which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and the Oregon Family Fairness Act, which grants domestic partnerships rights to same-sex couples.

Contact Alejandro (; 541-463-3237) or Tamara (; 503-286-0477) to get involved with queer student issues.
