OSA-led student vote coalition registers record # of students

In a press conference with Secretary of State Kate Brown yesterday, OSA Board Chair and ASUO President Emma Kallaway released the final numbers for student voter registration in the upcoming special election.

“With a registration deadline that fell on the second day of winter term, students stepped up to register nearly 6,000 of their peers in just two days, bringing the OSA-led student vote coalition’s total number of registered student voters to 14,271,” said Kallaway.

OPB’s Kristian Foden-Vencil spoke with Secretary of of State Brown about students’ registration efforts.

Congrats to all of Oregon’s students for helping to make this one of the most impressive voter registration drives in state history!

Thank You to over 400 students, presenters, and speakers who participated in the 9th Annual Oregon Students of Color Conference
The Oregon Student Foundation and Oregon Students of Color Coalition are proud to say this was our largest and most informative conference to date. OSCConference was held this year at Portland Community College’s Cascade campus, November 13-15th. Over the weekend over 385 students of color and allies took part in 70 workshops and had the opportunity to listen to inspiring speakers. This year the OSCConference attendees were welcomed by PCC Cascade student Charice Jones and George Pernsteiner the Chancellor of the Oregon University System. Our Alumni Speaker was Scott Lu and on Saturday we were joined by Cyreena Boston, and Jeri Sundvall-Williams.
