OSA Statement on the United States Court draft decision regarding Roe V. Wade

The Oregon Student Association is resolutely in support of protecting reproductive healthcare access for students across Oregon and the nation.

Safe abortion access is a healthcare issue that directly impacts students in higher education. Every student and person in higher education deserves access to potentially life-saving health care. The decision by the United States Supreme Court marks the first time that the high court has actively stripped the American people of a constitutional right.

The Oregon Student Association recognizes that abortion access is not just a constitutional or healthcare issue, but also one of racial and economic justice, with the Supreme Court decision having disproportionately detrimental impacts on historically underrepresented communities. We must come together to uplight and empower those in our community who are impacted by this ruling.

It is the Oregon Student Association's call to action that every eligible Oregon voter registers to vote in these upcoming midterm elections. The stakes are high this election cycle, with reproductive rights, racial justice, and access to a quality higher education being on the ballot. Let's vote as if our futures depend on it - because they do.
