Legislative Advocacy Hub

The Oregon Student Association acts as the collective voice for Oregon’s college and university students on their campuses, in the Oregon State Capitol, and in Washington D.C.

Campus Advocacy

Student voices should always be centered in conversations around tuition setting, institutional policy, and shared governance. OSA empowers students to engage with and monitor their local campuses’ Community College Boards of Education (BOE), University Board of Trustees (BOT), and other governance structures and decision-making bodies.

Statewide Advocacy

The Oregon State Legislature, The Higher Education Coordinating Commission, the Office of the Governor, and other state agencies have significant impacts on post-secondary education. OSA’s statewide advocacy is focused on expansion of state financial aid, funding for college and universities, and student-centered policy development.

Federal Advocacy

OSA’s federal advocacy is focused on the expansion of student aid (#DoubleThePell), student debt cancellation, defending DACA, and other relevant issues to students. OSA partners in our federal advocacy with national student coalitions, such as the Free The Degree, Higher Ed For All!, and the United States Student Association (USSA).
