Council of Legislative Advocates
The Council of Legislative Advocates (COLA) is a statewide council of community college and university students from Oregon that serve as the primary decision-makers in developing and advancing the Oregon Student Association’s Legislative Agenda.
Through a collaborative approach, COLA leads and guides the OSA Issue Choosing Process and sets legislative priorities and strategy during Oregon’s legislative sessions. Moreover, COLA actively creates opportunities for students to engage with their state legislators, fostering a direct and impactful connection between students and the legislative process.
With access to a combination of workshops and hands-on experiences, COLA ensures that its members develop a robust understanding of the political landscape and gain practical advocacy skills that advance student’s professional political experience. This commitment to education not only empowers students within the council, but contributes to the broader goal of fostering a new generation of student leaders in Oregon.
